Bridge Program

What Is It?

The Skating Club of Andover is pleased to announce a great opportunity for our basic skills skaters to take their skating to the next level! SCA’s new Bridge Program is designed to help skaters transition from the badge program to private lessons with a more in depth skating experience! The Bridge Program includes on-ice and off-ice components, as well as semi-private lessons for skaters who are not currently enrolled in private lessons. The program is designed to be a “bridge” between Basic Skills classes and Private Lessons. Each week, students will participate in a freestyle session with private or semi-private instruction, an advanced fundamentals class focusing on a variety of skating elements, and your choice of either a ballet class or an off-ice training & conditioning class. In addition, as part of the program a FREE Parent Education Seminar will be offered during the 6 week session – date & time TBA.

The Advanced Fundamentals class will focus on various components of skating including stroking and edges, jumping, spinning, choreography, introductory moves-in-the-field, introductory dance, artistry in motion and more. Skaters will be divided up into groups by ability level & will rotate every 15min. to work with a new pro, each with a different focus.

The off-ice curriculum includes your choice of ballet or off-ice training.

Ballet will focus on encouraging proper posture as well as hand & feet positioning to create a well balanced skater, while Off-ice Training will focus on proper stretching techniques, conditioning exercises and warm-up and cool-down tips.

In order to better serve our skaters, we have broken the Bridge Program up into three different package options so you can tailor your bridge program to meet the needs or your skater. Please see the bridge program application below for more details!

Who Can Participate?

The Bridge Program is open to skaters working on Basic 6 through Freeskate 6 levels. Based on the number of students who sign up for the classes, the skaters will be broken up into similar levels & grouped accordingly. Semi-private lessons will have a max of 3 skaters. Anyone who is either a member of The Skating Club of Andover, The Skating Club of Andover Learn to Skate program, or a member of US Figure Skating from another club is welcome to sign-up for these classes. If your child is not a full or junior member of SCA, or is not currently enrolled in our Learn to Skate program, an annual $25 membership fee will apply.
