What Is It?
The Advanced Fundamentals class will focus on various components of skating including stroking and edges, jumping, spinning, choreography, introductory moves-in-the-field, introductory dance, artistry in motion and more. Skaters will be divided up into groups by ability level & will rotate every 15min. to work with a new pro, each with a different focus. The off-ice curriculum includes your choice of ballet or off-ice training. Ballet will focus on encouraging proper posture as well as hand & feet positioning to create a well balanced skater, while Off-ice Training will focus on proper stretching techniques, conditioning exercises and warm-up and cool-down tips.
Who Can Participate? The Bridge Program is open to skaters working on Basic 6 through Freeskate 6 levels. Based on the number of students who sign up for the classes, the skaters will be broken up into similar levels & grouped accordingly. Semi-private lessons will have a max of 3 skaters. Anyone who is either a member of The Skating Club of Andover, The Skating Club of Andover Learn to Skate program, or a member of US Figure Skating from another club is welcome to sign-up for these classes. If your child is not a full or junior member of SCA, or is not currently enrolled in our Learn to Skate program, an annual $25 membership fee will apply. How Do I Find Out More Information?
